All,<br><br>I've made an effort to both summarize what other's have written about doing a podcast and to present some of the practical issues involved. Perhaps this information will make arriving at an agreed course of action easier?
<br><br><br>Participants: <br> (Thanks to you all as I'm sincerely excited about doing a program with you all!):<br><br>Chris Messina<br>Johannes Ernst <br>Drummond Reed<br><br><br>Other issues:<br><br>1. "Timing"
<br><br>Johannes raised the timing issue<span class="q"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;"></span></font></span> and I have a slight preference for jumping right in and doing an "intro" discussion even in the absence of a "strawman". If the ultimate objective is to encourage wider participation my gut tells me early, open and frank discussion even if it's not entirely focused is a good way to go.
<br><br>Also please keep in mind that I'm very interested in UX/identity issues, so if there's an interest in doing a series of podcasts on this subject I'll gladly provide the "infrastructure" to make it happen. Perhaps that obviates the "timing" issue?
<br><br>2. "Infrastructure"<br><br>And now a few words about the "infrastructure" so that we're all on the same page. My current and reasonably stable recording setup permits simultaneous recording of three parties (myself and two callers). Although inexpensive services exist (conference call providers) to add more participants to the call, I've found there's an inverse correlation between the cost of those services and the sound quality that result.
<br><br>So if having more than 3 callers on the line at the same time is desirable (I personally think 4 participants is a good number for an hour program), I would like to purchase some "recording time" from a professional that can assure high sound quality.
<br><br>3. Proposal<br><br>In light of the above constraints, I propose:<br><br>3.1. We start with an initial one hour (or less) podcast with the four people that have initially come forward (Chris Messina, Johannes Ernst & Drummond Reed and I).
<br>3.2. We start the discussion by providing some perspective as to what prompted the creation of the list and the podcast....What other topics might people like to discuss? <br>3.3. I personally would like to produce something of high quality both in terms of content and sound quality - so I'd be glad to foot the recording costs in exchange for the right (non-exclusive) to distribute it on my feed - Note that all my podcasts are distributed under CreativeCommons
<a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/">Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0.</a> so I don't think this is a major limitation, if someone feels it is let's discuss it as I'm very open to alternatives!

Disclosing my interests<br><br>I'd like to mention that to date the podcasts that I've produced have an audience of between 500-1,200 listeners (downloads to be more precise). I believe even a small collective effort to get the word about a podcast we do regarding UX will enjoy a much larger audience.
<br><br>And last but not least I feel I should let everyone know that I haven't used my podcast to promote or advertise anything to date. Although I don't have any immediate plans to do so I am thinking about one day promoting my own services (privacy law consulting most likely) on the podcast, again I have no immediate plans to do so.
