Login dialog strawman based on IIW discussion

I would agree with that one. In particular, some users (many?) will  
have https URLs.

I would suggest to mimic the behavior of common browsers to the  
maximum extent possible. At least that's what we do in our code at  
NetMesh, and it has turned out to be a good idea.
