We would first need to establish a list of agreed goals of an identity system, otherwise we will argue on the features without a yardstick. Unfortunately, agreeing on goals has yet to happen.
Personally, I think that the identity community is going to wonder lost in the woods for a couple years until there is a consensus for achieving goals that are NOT met by Facebook or Twitter or Google.
