Dear iGov WG Members,
At the 3 March iGov WG meeting, we discussed options for (1) migrating the working group repositories from Bitbucket to GitHub and (2) moving the specifications from RFC XML to RFC Markdown.
To keep this orderly and transparent, the editors propose the below migration plan and are seeking WG concurrence using our consensus-based process (i.e., we will proceed unless substantive objections are raised by March 19th).
Request for concurrence / objections
Please share any objections or concerns with the below approach by 19 March. If you object, please include the specific concern and, if possible, a proposed alternative so the WG can work toward resolution and consensus.
Proposed migration approach
1) iGov OpenID Connect Profile and iGov Use Cases
- Freeze the current versions in the existing Bitbucket repository in their present state, retaining repository history as an archive/read-only record.
- Create new working versions in the iGov GitHub repository by rewriting these documents in RFC Markdown and including a changelog.
- After the GitHub versions are posted, triage the existing open Bitbucket issues:
- Close issues that are resolved by the GitHub versions, and
- Migrate any remaining unresolved issues to GitHub.
- Once issue triage is complete, GitHub will become the system of record for new issues and pull requests from the WG.
2) iGov OAuth 2.0 Profile
- Continue collecting foundation-wide review feedback as issues and pull requests through completion of the current review.
- After the review concludes, convert the final specification to RFC Markdown and publish it in the iGov GitHub repository.
- Freeze the Bitbucket repository (including the RFC XML version) as an archive/read-only record.
Thank you,
Kelley Burgin
