Since the Berlin Group may be considered as a competitor to FAPI their plans should be of some interest.

IMO, Berlin Group's approach to payment APIs will never scale unless a wallet is also standardized. Since the latter is at least 5 years away from becoming a reality, the European Commission is in for major hurdles.
I believe my take on payment APIs for Banks, is way more usable because it permits experimentation:

As I understand, the FAPI WG have no plans to engage in the "Wallet API war".

The conference was quite useful and also verified my view that the EU pilots have been too quick creating solutions while not bothered figuring out who the actors are!
