Dear FAPIers,

To some peoples' dismay, I have over the years, tried hard (but in vain), to get some discussions [0] going around the wallet issue.
Since the much hyped EU Identity Wallet depends on Open Banking APIs, the time is ripe for dealing with this topic.  Who could be more qualified to do that than the FAPI WG?

I suggest that the chairs issue a specific call for this topic.

The (IMO) most fundamental issue is how to perform SCA for payment authorizations. The existing EUIDW proposal [1] uses a variant [2] of the current redirect method.  Although logical from an Open Banking/FAPI perspective, this adds complexity and lowers functionality compared to legacy "SCA" solutions like EMV/Apple Pay.  That is, before you dismiss EMV (on a conceptual level), you should carefully evaluate the consequences.

Cheers,
Anders

2] I find this variant slightly weird since the PSU has no direct interaction with the PISP.
