I guess we are both right 😉 The EU wallet indeed uses OAuth2 but not the variant used by FAPI.
I'm still a strong advocate for EMV-like flows because they can support a wider range of payment use-cases including automated gas station payments and subscriptions.
Anyway, whatever method you use it requires new stuff in banks. I don't think the current take on Open Banking really cut it but I haven't found any public forum where such things can be discussed.
