The long and the short of it is that I found it far more entertaining using a HOTAS and also found my flying to be more consistent and of a generally higher quality - but it was a learning curve to get there. I think your idea of getting a cheap(ish) set to start with is a good one. Try it for a fortnight and see where you end upSaitek gear in general (at least since Mad Catz bought them) suffers from QC issues ranging from minor annoyances to products that are DOA. I've read several times people getting numerous DOA X55s. One guy gave up by the time he got DOA #3. having said that, the X55s that work, work well and the only people I've heard of that weren't pleased with their [working] X55s were people with a lot of experience with CH or TM gear, which tends to be higher quality and carries the price tag to go with it. The X52 Pro doesn't suffer from the QC issues so much, rather after 6-8 months of solid use they start to degrade (deadzone, hard to center, slack in the stick, stuff like that). But it's also a only a $120 HOTAS, so you can't expect massively high quality.Saitek X52 Star Citizen Profile Software Just ForSaitek X52 Star Citizen Profile Drivers Because TheI loaded the X52 Profile, started a new game.nothing was working.
