Hi FAPIers,

Here is a single slide showing how the proposed (and nowadays also tested) enhancement to FAPI et al addresses End-2-End Security:

This does not in any way eliminate the Open Banking PISP scheme, it just puts it where it more naturally belongs; as a part of financial services/banking.

What it does mean though is that Open Banking APIs through this mode could eventually become the core for just about all payments which would make the sizable investment considerably more interesting, and also greatly contribute to quality and availability.

Unlike PEPSI, Open Banking/DM is completely neutral with respect to currencies, zones, etc.

The folks behind this initiative haven't spoke a single word on how the plan to harmonize 20+ mobile phone payment systems but I don't think they have considered using Open Banking since it departs too much from their current systems.
