It kind of works as it is a variation of "Carrier grade".

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier_grade

Advantages of this name: :

- It is descriptive.

- It protects the investments on the acronym "FAPI".

My intention is that the “-grade” suffix implies a level of protection. Everybody can utilize the spec to achieve telco-grade, healthcare-grade etc. while it is originally based on requirements from financial services industry.

The whole point of the name change is that the profile is not limited to finance. So does this accomplish that?

Name changes cause a lot of confusion. This opens the door but keeps
the acronym.

It might be late but how about:
Financial-grade Access Protection Interoperability (FAPI)

I have concerns. The reason for this group was to address the legal
and security requirements of a particular sector in efforts to get a
global standard based on Connect.
A mark of success is universal applicability, but a loss of focus
would be of grave concern for me speaking as an individual.

Hey Folks,
At the last OpenID Foundation Board meeting, the board agreed that
since FAPI is not limited to the financial sector and does not
proscribe API designs, it should be renamed.
The fundamental thing that differentiates the OpenID Foundation's
OpenAPI working groups is that they focus on consumer-facing
ecosystems as opposed to enterprise, so we could focus it in that
direction.
Instead of saying API, we could say something like resource or
protected resource.
How about
Consumer Resource Protection (CRP)
Delegated Resource Access for Consumer-facing Operators (DRACO)
Delegated Protection of Consumer Resources (DPCR)
Thoughts?
