Hi
As discussed on today’s WG call (and in my email last week <https://lists.openid.net/pipermail/openid-specs-digital-credentials-protocols/Week-of-Mon-20250616/000841.html>), as per table 2 in the OIDF process document, https://openid.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/OIDF_Process-Document_Final_2024-10-19.pdf, we have a core decision to make of 'recommend a Work Group Draft as (…) a Final Specification” - specifically we need to agree that the upcoming revision draft 16 of OID4VCI (which should be published shortly) will go into public review and then voted upon in a foundation wide vote, to become final.
This will be a consensus decision made at the normal 8th July 2025 DCP WG call, at 20:00 London time. This is a formal 14 day notice that we will make that decision at that meeting. As allowed by the process document, this notice period will run in parallel with the public review period, which we hope to start on Thursday 24th June, and to ensure the working group feels we’re ready we plan to also collect an informal consensus at the Thurs 26th June EU working group call.
Draft 16 of OID4VCI is expected to be the contents of this url:
https://openid.github.io/OpenID4VCI/openid-4-verifiable-credential-issuance-wg-draft.html
Plus the contents of these two pull requests that, following agreement at today’s WG call, are just awaiting final reviews:
https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VCI/pull/509 (Presentation during issuance)
https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VCI/pull/520 (add option to have signed Credential Issuer metadata, remove signed_metadata from Credential Issuer metadata #520)
The chairs/editors expect there’s likely to be some further editorial changes based on feedback but don’t currently expect any other normative changes.
Thanks
Joseph
