Hi all

As per the meeting group calls over the last week or two and my email last week ( https://lists.openid.net/pipermail/openid-specs-digital-credentials-protocols/Week-of-Mon-20241007/000473.html ) we hope to start the process to publish a new implementer’s draft of OpenID 4 VP soon. (In fact we hoped to start today, but some last minute delays arose.)

We hope to include these PRs:

Remove the whole 'Support for Federations/Trust Schemes’ section: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/282 (or one of the alternative PRs to resolve the use of urn:ietf:oauth urls, but this one currently has the most approvals)

Complete IANA Considerations section: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/274

Add transaction data: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/197

Rework Browser API section: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/254

Assuming these get enough approvals they appear to be on track to be merged in time.

Other than those PRs not being merged, the draft spec we intend to publish is here: https://openid.github.io/OpenID4VP/openid-4-verifiable-presentations-wg-draft.html

We had also hoped to include the new query language PR ( https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/266 ) but it’s unclear to me if we’ll achieve consensus in time to include it in this implementer’s draft. (See the comments on that PR and also https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/281 for the details.)

To be clear, there is no slack in the schedule as per my above email, so we plan to start the process after the WG call on Tuesday next week regardless of whether the above items are merged. (i.e. if we delay any further, the DCP WG won’t be able to publish a final version of VP for the end of March for the EU implementing acts.)

If anyone is aware of other items it’s important to resolve prior to starting the process, or has any objections to this plan, please reply to this email before the end of this week.

Thanks

Joseph
