Hi all

During the meetings this week we discussed the issues around the previous proposal for shipping 1.0 final of OID4VCI & OID4VP and it seems like we have a consensus to adjust the plan.

The slides presented (with some slight updates to reflect how the conversation evolved during this week’s WG calls) are here:

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1MwNwD3DSf_JuKFuudg66Ib9cJemMOGXniySvjJQHjUM/edit#slide=id.g309467ef06d_0_0

The quick summary of the slides is:

We are now NOT planning to start a process that would result in 1.0 final being published at the end of the year.

We still instead do new implementer’s drafts of VP (and most likely VCI too) to be published by the end of the year, and will then follow up aiming to have 1.0 final published by end March. We will try to include many of the in progress PRs in these implementer’s draft - including the new query language (which we hope to merge the first cut of next week) and transaction data.

We will aim to have the items we were previously targeting for 1.1 revisions included in 1.0.

If anyone has any concerns or objections please let us know.

To execute on these plans, reviews & approvals of some of the in progress PRs would be greatly appreciated:

VP: New query language: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/266

VP: Transaction data: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/pull/197

VCI: Key attestations: https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VCI/pull/389

We would also greatly appreciate people that are willing to try implementing the new query language to get involved - at least one other implementor is hoping to do some interop testing this month, please drop me an email if you are interested and would like an invite to the slack channel being used for discussing that.

Thanks

Joseph
