[Openid-specs-digital-credentials-protocols] Removal of VCI batch endpoint

Hi all

Now that the ’normal’ credential endpoint supports issuing multiple instances of a credential (as per https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VCI/pull/293 ) the question of whether there’s any use cases where the batch endpoint is still important has been rightly raised again. Retiring it seems like a good change to make as there’s all sorts of unsolved problems with it in the specification and various complexities associated with the batch endpoint (simplifying the spec is a good thing for everyone), and I don’t believe there’s use cases where credential issuers are issuing (say) 20 different credentials to a wallet at once, nor does there seem to be large optimisations that can be made server side if they were all requested in a single http request. We’d like to hear from implementors first though in case we’ve missed anything.

This will be discussed on this week’s working group meetings, but please add comments for/against on this issue:

https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VCI/issues/18

Thanks

Joseph
