## Agenda

- Review of the agenda
- Event announcements
- Discussions on improving the OpenID4VP query process with two proposals
- Pull request 59 to the request_uri endpoint

## Introduction

- Timo Glastra, Co-Founder and CTO at Animo Solutions, introduced himself and his work in identity and SSI technologies

## Discussion Items

The group is discussing the a query language for OpenID4VP, with two main directions being considered: simplifying the existing Presentation Exchange (PE) or adopting a new format-specific query language.

## OpenID4VP Query Language Discussion

For background issue, see "Opportunities to improve the credential query/request syntax #112" (<https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/issues/112>)

As the chair, Torsten provided this recommendation:

A structured process is proposed to reach a consensus on the query language, including agreeing on scope and requirements, discussing proposals, creating comparative examples, gaining implementation experience, and developing an adoption strategy.

Two main proposals:

1) Oliver Terbu presented a proposal for a credential format-specific query language, which aims to simplify queries by being more precise and having less implementation complexity, especially for non-JSON credential formats like CBOR. (<https://docs.google.com/document/d/10JT--pXWsfwC4QVu3XJpXGwcO08M6tnpkZ4PKdtCEWo/>)

Key points:

- It aims to be simpler than the current Presentation Exchange (PE) and support specifics of different credential formats like JSON-LD, JWT, CBOR etc.
- It has a presentation request object with an ordered array of queries. The order indicates the verifier's preference.
- Feedback is needed on the overall approach of having a format-specific query language

2) Kristina Yasuda presented a proposal to define a mandatory-to-implement minimum profile of Presentation Exchange (PE) for OpenID for VP to address feedback and simplify implementation without major breaking changes.titled "mandatory minimum PE profile for OpenID4VP" <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r7S36RFNsnCOrYbkyTFE5ybPBalT-hERSnzKQ2rzcX8/edit>
issue that raises this PE profile: <https://github.com/openid/OpenID4VP/issues/129>

Key points:

- Define a mandatory minimum profile of PE for OID4VP
- Capture the common basic features many implementers have used so far
- Limit some complex features like passing entire JSON schemas

In addition:

- The group discussed the potential need for viewpoints from implementers like the California DMV or other governments on the query language.
- The group discussed the need for a fair and transparent process to decide between these approaches
- Implementation experience and clear requirements were emphasized as important factors

## Discussion on Pull Request 59

Torsten discussed the long-standing pull request 59 (), which allows wallets to send a POST request to the request UI endpoint. The discussion covered technical details such as case sensitivity of the method values and the need for privacy considerations when sending wallet metadata. Suggestions were made to ensure the request URI method is named appropriately and to include privacy considerations in the proposal.

## External Events and Workshops

- Several external events and workshops were highlighted:
- OIDF workshop at Google <https://openid.net/registration-oidf-workshop-monday-april-15-2024/>
- IIW event on April 16-18 <https://iiw38.eventbrite.com/>
- The City Hub initiative was mentioned, which received a grant to support digital identity stakeholder convergence

## Actions

- all: The group agreed to continue the discussion on the proposed query language and to review and provide feedback on the related documents and pull requests.
