This had been rumored for a while and now the press has picked it up as well. It's nice that the TechCrunch article referenced OpenID Connect as part of the context of the article.
We shouldn't take this as a sign of victory, per se. It just means that one competing identity system failed to gain adoption.
At this point, we need to be laser focused on things that will drive OpenID Connect adoption. Adoption is hard.
