I agree and have said this before. I understand the end user  
requirement, but I would much rather have us (the foundation) point  
to third-party recommendations than making those recommendations  
ourselves.

It's a bit like if the Bluetooth consortium said "buy these of our  
members' products, but not those of those other members" -- and we  
don't even have a comformance suite within OpeniD!
