While it is certain that the guidance of an attorney(ies) is entirely necessary, it is not always the case that lawyers are in the best position to give the most judicious advice on how to formulate well balanced policies and guidelines that both well protect a trademark and support extensive appropriate use. Hence there is real value to be found, it seems to me, in having a TM committee that includes OpenID community members with many diverse perspectives.

cheers,
-bill

----- Original Message ----
From: Drummond Reed <drummond.reed@cordance.net>
To: Mike Jones

Agreed.
What
trademark

I've
been

with
in
the
past
has
>
taught
me
that
unless
there's
clear

is

usage
for
the
mark,
the
mark
is

Criteria
such
as
"must
be
used

OpenID
and/or
>
indicate
that
a

make
sense
to
me.
My
wording
is
terrible,
but
you
get
the
>
point
and
the
wording
can
be
fixed.

Totally
agree,
the
objective
should
be
to
provide
users
a

when
they
