Combine that with some of the early imbedding work done by a variety of DS implementations (good example at http://www.switch.ch/aai/support/serviceproviders/sp-embedded-wayf.html ), and the Kantara-ULX GUI work, and I think the union will be a pretty good intermediate solution.
