to rip out its custom oauth profile in a webapi spec in preference to citing openid connect.

That’s very encouraging news.  Thank you for sharing.  I think there remains ample standardization work to do, especially as important aspects of identity like provisioning become more prolific, but this sort of adoption is a step in the right direction.
