[OpenID] wordpress in webmatrix install and openid experience feedback

My experience yesterday of installing openid into a wordpress installation (itself working fine via a Microsoft webmatrix-based process) was less than stellar. To put it bluntly, the only thing that (mostly) worked was myopenid. I tried to modernize my attitudes by installing the google-promoted plugin in wordpress for showing a nascar type UI display, which duly showed google, yahoo, and the buttons of other friends of the openid foundation with the power to get themselves on the default button list or the nascar. But, I could not make the google or yahoo buttons work, as the plugin could not find the required metadata (on what I assume is pre-configured metadata discovery URIs). I gave up, considering it all not robust enough to evaluate further. It may well be fixable (and may WELL be a fault in my installation skills). But, the point is that its not easy and obvious enough for the likes of me, yet. IN abstract terms, Im hardly clueless or lacking experience in equivalents. I have interworking with Google/Yahoo all working fine with the Microsoft ACS services, using either its (awful) UI or using its supply of javascript/json metadata with which we build our own nascar. The very positive experience of using this contrasted with the negative experience of the "native" openid route, in the wordpress-in-webmatrix case. The result SHOULD be the same, but obviously what one measures is "viability". One was viable, the other not.
