Agreed, "web" identity fits within the scope of "universal" identity
with room to spare. Even "online" is not restricted to "web" - and
shouldn't be, which has left me ambivalent about OpenID's future as
it matures from a protocol focused on backward-compatibility (web
technology, redirects and HTML parsing) to an extensible protocol
that attempts to anticipate (and account for) future uses. At some
point, isn't web-based Identity best reframed as an interface for
accepting identifying data from *other* mediums, lest our
"singel"-minded focus on the "web" lead us to keeping our conceptions
of identity centralized there? I mean, OpenID is helping us make the
hop to the web; will it survive the next paradigm shift? Do we want
it to? Is it too early to care?
All of which is orthogonal to the matter at hand; you want to
populate the Portable Web Identities row with additional entries, not
figure out the next row beyond that.
