Sign up now for the OpenID Summit in Mountain View, CA on the afternoon of May 2nd.
Earlier this year, The Open Identity Exchange (OIX) and the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) co sponsored a OpenID Policy Summit with invited experts from the American Bar Association's Committee on Identity and Harvard's Berkman Center for Law and the Internet. We pulled together the people working on the standards, policies and requirements for government agencies acting as relying parties. In March, PayPal hosted a OpenID Summit on the use of social media by relying parties focusing on online retail applications. The May 2nd OpenID Security Summit is the technology counterpoint to the policy work and the requirements discussed by retailers. Security and user experience issues emerged again and again in the previous summits and often referenced the requirements and duties of relying parties. The May 2nd Summit will discuss security and the user experience in the context of "RPBP" (relying party best practices) as one of the linchpins of identity authentication at higher levels of assurance. The user experience / security issues of RPBP are a key common denominator as they impact all stakeholders in the ecosystem. Some of the presentations will include:
Mike Jones, Co-Chair of the OpenID: AB/Connect working group, will overview the technical collaboration of Facebook, Google, Microsoft and others on the next stage of evolution of the OpenID protocol.
Mike Garcia of the Department of Homeland Security will review the recently released White House "National Strategy on Trusted Identity in Cyberspace"
Nico Popp of Symantec and Eric Sachs of Google will chair a roundtable on security best practices in online identity authentication with representatives from AoL,Yahoo! Salesforce.com, and others.
Tim Brown of CA Tech and Brent Williams the CTO of Equifax will outline their new risk based identity authentication systems for commercial and government applications.
More speakers and panelists will be finalized soon. Thanks for Google and Symantec for Co Sponsoring this event.
