I'm not sure that I see what you see... where is the information card
option? Is this for Vista-only users?

I only have the option to sign in using my Windows Live ID... (i.e. hotmail
account).

Agreed. And there are subsequent benefits as well, since signing in with
Google account provide my email and language preference as well.
