Hi Nat,
Thanks for your feedback.
End of 2009 I worked on a (cross) telco identity project as well. Here you
can find some info about the project:

Although the project was more related to mobile PKI identity on SIM it also
looked at simple ways to integrate with openid.
Would be great to hear the scenarios how your projects think to bridge the
gap between public and private sector. Not only around technology, but also
related to privacy, business model, service levels and roles within the ID
network (For bridging the public-private gap I see some examples where an
acquirer/ authenticationbroker role is defined)
Anyone on the list want to share his thoughts on this e-id-openid topic? Off
course you are all welcome to join the discussion at the e-ID conference
Brussels Belgium 16th and 17th of March.

Hi Kick,
I am doing two projects with Japanese Government right now. One is to
facilitate Public Sector - Private Sector cross sector identity usage, and
the other is a cross telco initiative. Both of them are OpenID related.
Unfortunately, I cannot travel in March because both project and another one
is closing in March, but I might be able to provide some information if I
can get the permission from the government.
Would you be interested?

All,
On the 16th and 17th of March I will be in Brussels for the e-ID interop.
The conference is organized by eema.org and sponsored by SWIFT and BBS.
There will be some interesting speakers, as soon as I have the program
confirmed I will share it on the list.
The conference typically attracts 150 attendees from business, public sector
and government from countries throughout Europe and also further a field.
In 2009 participating organisations came from 17 countries, including 30%
from Government/public sector, 20% from user organisations included
Motorola, Total, KPMG, Siemens, Visa International, European Commission,
Euroclear Bank and the UK HM Revenue and Customs.
On the second day of the conference I will facilitate a roundtable session
to talk about the opportunities of OpenID, Open Identity in general within
the European e-ID Landscape.
I think it is a good opportunity to discuss the way how OpenID is able to
contribute to the current e-id situation in different member states. Looking
at the weaknesses of current e-ID schemes (no use in business environments
because limitations of personal public service numbers, poor application
support, security levels in no proportion to business transactions, no daily
use, attribute sharing, no multi channel support (Mobile, CyberCafé etc..)
it is worthwhile to have an open discussion how OpenID could( or not) bridge
this.
If you have an interest in this topic, discussed/ experimented with
opportunities like this before or able to introduce a representative of an
OIDF corporate member promoting the philosophy of open identity, please let
me know.
Kick
