[OpenID] JISC Access and Identity Management Call 08/09

To any lurking UK academics on the list,

JISC is going to be funding some proposals addressing outstanding
issues in levels of assurance, a critical step for them as they
ratchet up the UK Access Management Federation for Education to meet
more sensitive applications. This has been a topic discussed loosely
in several senses here on the OpenID general and specs lists, and this
may offer a chance to investigate how present and envisioned OpenID
protocol specifications fit with such applications. I think
expression of the federated trust fabric in a form such as XRD to
accompany PAPE and OpenID could be particularly intriguing, though
there are a lot of hurdles to address before even that point, as
enumerated by John Bradley here.

The other category seems more broad, simply funding innovative
projects in identity management, but there's a lot of innovation left
to be done. :D If you have cool projects in mind, this is a great
chance to both fund their development and get some exposure for the
ideas.

Take care,
Nate.
