>I'd support a 30-day cooling off period in this case.
I am of no single mind upon this matter, and I would like to inject
this topic with a few of the considerations that I see as
complicating the issue:
Politics: board members are up for re-election soon, and Santosh
obviously desires to influence the outcome of these events. Timing:
it wouldn't look good for banning his participation, though it
shouldn't reflect *poorly* either since the words would be punished
for were not necessary to the points he was making. Transparency: if
Santosh is unable to publicly proclaim his concerns about candidates
(in a forum many of the voters read), will be forego transparency and
instead resort to mailing (some of) us his concerns directly? When
(or if) we receive those messages, do we ourselves bring that to the
attention of the list, or say nothing (not bothering anyone with
those topics), remain quiet but read it, refuse to even open the
message at all lest it compromise our position on transparency? (This
last applies acutely, at this time, to anyone actually running for a
seat on the board, but still applies generally to all of us who care
about it that way.)
