*facepalm* I hope you meant "will pay for his membership"; the OIDF 
is *not* a by-invitation-only group!

(Also, membership isn't strictly necessary. Open-source code can be 
contributed from outside the Foundation, and accepted/adopted within 
it assuming a compatible license.)

I think/remember he's been helping out since longer than you've 
*known about* OpenID; the pre-existing efforts are his, the newcomer 
offering to contribute would be you ;)

you put forth against the work *becoming* private, if that would seem
