I'm not seeing a "need" for it, though. What effect does it have,
other than changing the foundation of all this discussion to suddenly
support, instead of oppose, your arguments?

Saying you don't want to hear objections that are made on the basis
of "Your arguments are invalid." or "Your arguments are sound, but do
not apply here." demonstrates an ability to learn what obstacles are
in your path, but a failure to learn constructive strategies for
dealing with them, and I see that pattern being repeated here. You
celebrate your success at predicting what objections others will
have, but you then forbid them from raising those objections, instead
of reformulating your own arguments (or, better yet, your
understanding of the issues) to no longer provoke those objections.
Seeing that the definition of XRD does not mesh with your ideas, you
seek to redefine XRD instead of coming up with better ideas.

Since you're (apparently) so good at seeing flaws in what exists (and
what is being proposed), how about you tell me what catastrophe will
result if you do not convince us all to stop it? What stands to
BREAK, horribly, if the Subject line becomes optional?

-Shade (weary, irritable, perhaps cranky)
