The first of those asked whether we were suggesting we knew something 
that [the RDF folks] didn't know; the other opened with "If that is 
the case", and, since it wasn't, I took it as a *conditional* 
question (to whether any of us were, in fact, suggesting that), and 
did not treat it as having *actually been asked* (at that point in 
time). If anyone steps forward and says that they *do* think they 
know something the RDF folks don't know, and I have any speculation 
upon that matter, I will then assume you are curious about their 
reasons, and try to help both parties to understand one another.

They were not relevant to the replies I was posting. I tend to take a 
minimalist approach to quoting previous messages in a thread; if it's 
not relevant, I trim it away. This makes it easier for others to 
figure out *what* I am replying to. It also saves bandwidth for those 
who must pay for what they use (though I'm not sure if that is still 
a problem across the pond).
