Will, please refer to Santosh's message - the one I quoted in my reply:

>Why are you guys so stuck up on allowing XRD's with no Subject?
>
>If you really want to do that, why don't you allow for an "Anonymous
>XRD" who's Subject is empty?

To recap, Santosh proposed an alternative to omitting the Subject
field entirely: making it empty instead. I am simply countering that,
if it is conceptually acceptable (ignoring the specs for a moment) to
have an empty Subject, it ought to be conceptually acceptable to omit
that field entirely when there is no practical difference in parsing
- you either find it, or you don't. If the latter, you may treat it
as being empty, having some reserved name that stands for "ignore
this", self-referential, whatever! Use one object for parsing the
data, and then filter it so your interpreter doesn't choke.
