Visiting the Privacy Policy was just an example - how many documents
are visible from the main page, how many use-cases for visiting the
main page that don't involve logging in to a specific account that
had previously been logged into (not necessarily from that terminal,
as inept users may not realize). If you're not worried about turning
away the last few percentile of (potential) users who might like the
site better if they could enforce their own policies, that's fine.
Users have policies too. This is an important point, and one I'll
return to (probably in a new thread) after I think some more about
how to put this :)
