>I have been working with web transactions, privacy policy and
>identity validation for a while now.
Nice to hear! I hadn't known to what extent (or even whether)
"privacy-conscientious" would be important in selecting a new E.D.
(especially with all the other qualities to look for), but I'm very
glad to see he has experience dealing with privacy policies (which
may mean *enforcement* as well as becoming more aware of the relevant
concerns so he can *design* a policy to best address them).
>Second, to deal effectively with success. That means to make sure
>the Foundation can responsibly sustain and accelerate the momentum
>now underway.
And here (for a moment) I thought it meant "What happens if so many
corporations join as Sustaining Members, when OpenID hits 'critical
mass', that they even outnumber the members of the *Foundation*, much
less the current *Board*?" :)
(Other than the OIDF being richer by about eleven MILLION dollars. :D)
>Q: What experience do you have that you intend to bring to the OIDF?
>A: I have a career-long interest in identity authentication and a
>personal passion for protecting individual privacy.
I'm overjoyed at the last part, on its own. In context (as the answer
to that question), I'm VERY impressed.
>It is a painful irony that is seems our physical identity is more
>protected than our digital identities.
With ever-ongoing efforts to bring those identities closer together,
the lack of protection for digital identities also begins to look
like a "back door" - it's like the users are being persuaded to build
their own "This information doesn't matter, there's no need to build
security into it." application inside their networks (setting up in
advance for the eventual trojan), then persuading them to recompile a
tiny bit of "enhanced convenience" at a time until the application
morphs into its final form.
. . . I wonder if that would work out as a creepy animated short.
