Hey Darren,
When first adding corporate board members to the Foundation, we
decided to maintain a ratio of one more community member compared to
the total number of corporate members. As it's possible for corporate
members to join the board at any time throughout the year, we wanted a
solution that either doesn't randomly assign new community members or
not add community members until the next yearly election. We thus
decided that the best approach would be to add community members based
on the election results (http://openid.net/2008/12/27/openid-board-election-results/
). Eran was up next, though he declined the role, which means that
Joseph became the newest community member of the board until the next
community election.
Hope that helps!
