The interesting thing about "silent majorities" is that, so long as 
they *remain* silent, anyone can attribute arbitrary beliefs to them 
and claim, *by virtue of* the lack of any supporting voices, that 
such beliefs actually enjoy greater support than any alternative that 
can be shared by the people actually speaking.
