We are probably too far distant from openid to use this list further. Is there a vibrant community of participants on another, better suited? The more diverse the opinion set, the better, usually. Good standards are a mix of political compromises and technology.

If the handoff from ssl layer 4 (ssl record layer stuff) to app layer 7 (which does  cert stuff) to CGI/servlet interface is now open in some of the major containers, there is lots that can be done to insert non-DNS based trust models at this interception point: for openid implementations, too. This is worth studying, for lots of reasons; since its "deployable".
