That is part of the tension in the openID community.

Do we keep it simple for the masses with basic form filling  
expectations,  or try an reach for LoA 2+ use cases that will require  
more sophisticated UIs to achieve  user control and privacy.

These things are a balance.

I have been working hard on the LoA 1 use case not to prematurely lock  
OPs into things that may compromise there ability to serve users  
according to there business models.

There is a lot of work needed to bring openID to the broad audience in  
terms they can understand.
