[OpenID] Windows Live ID OpenID CTP Status Update (August 2009)

+5000 to the "uni-box" — or "uberbox" concept.
With WebFinger, we can resolve email addresses to OpenID providers, and I
believe that in order to achieve adoption, we need to be much more pragmatic
and realistic about how people choose to identify themselves.

Ultimately we want to get to a box that asks you:

"Who are you?" [______________________]

And you can type any of:

chrismessina at twitter.com
chris.messina at gmail.com
http://factoryjoe.com
factoryjoe.com
facebook.com/chrismessina
chrismessina (if I'm on a specific website with usernames)
etc

And as long as I can prove that I am who I say I am (or have some identity
provider that will serve some identifier consistently for me) then I should
be able to sign in.

It all happens over HTTP messages, but from the user's perspective, they're
telling a website who they are and then proving it. That's all there is to
it.
