Unfortunately -- and I say this as one of the founding board members  
-- there is some truth to what you are saying.

In fact, it drives me just as nuts. Perhaps more so ;-)

Which is why I've decided to do something about it. Specifically:

1. Collection of objectives and "what OIDF should be doing" from a  
broad set of stake holders. Current status at http://wiki.openid.net/OpenID_Foundation/Strategy
I -- and everybody on the board -- would welcome all feedback and in  
particular volunteers to "grab an item" and do it, just like I and  
some others do.

2. Prioritization down to:

a. ED hire. So I got myself on the hiring committee and apparently  
successfully proposed a process that they/we are now following. It  
can't be that we publicly announce that our inaugural ED will be  
leaving and won't hire a replacement in a reasonable time frame.

b. Chartering of a security committee. Which has happened, although I  
do not currently know where it stands. (Mental note: find out!)

c. Customer research. We got the committee chartered, we have a time  
line and deliverables (the first OIDF committee to do so.) As of  
yesterday, we have contracted with a very qualified lady (Rosemary  
Remacle of MarketFocus) to help us out, and we'll expect to present  
initial results to the next board meeting. The collection of input at

And as always, if you have a better plan, please do speak up!

On a related subject, there will be a vote for community board member  
seats some time soon. I hope that everybody who is dissatisfied and  
thinks they will do a better job, will run for a seat!! ;-)
