What's a "serious business".
I serve 250k realtors, one woman businesses on the whole. Presumably they don't therefore count, even tho collectively they run a trillion dollar annual cash flow collective market.
Openid is an inflection point, in the id mgt space. Instead of hollwood studios defining the video businesses, 250k youtube video makers (including my 10 year old kid) define the opprtunity space (and how the market will operate).

And this is the danger of OpenID, to serious businesses. Once users
experience freedom, they may never be willing to let go, and an
entire business model could become no longer viable. How can
businesses charge money for something that's essentially free?
Many "serious businesses" carefully maintain trusted information about their employees and users. While there's a certain romance in the thought that we can abandon government ID cards and employee databases, I think we should encourage the construction of an identity system that is also amenable to the needs of these businesses and their applications.
To quote Bob Blakley, when was the last time you bought a bottle of water?
We analyze the mineral and fat content of our users, making them more appealing to applications and other consumers.
