This part was redundant with the "libel" bit:
>(A lot of royally pissed-off
>trolls whose various identities were exposed and the proof posted on
>the internet, can attest to this through their inability to have that
>evidence removed.)
It would be more accurate to point at "parody" sites like
Encyclopedia Dramatica or "satire" sites such as The Onion, and
(since "free speech" protects these sites that most people know
better than to take seriously) more effective to note that there are
a *lot* of webpages out there - disinformation can be generated
faster than we can ever hope to litigate against it all (especially
if someone writes a program to *automatically* pull in information
from various sources and randomly assemble it into various fake
"profiles"). Think of it as the next wave of spam. With possibly
beneficial results to privacy (too many false positives - dataminers
would be lost in a sea of noise and unable to identify which ones
were a valid signal). It's much better to simply go with a whitelist,
which is where we get the authentication/authorization issue and find
ourselves trying to establish a framework for trust.
