[OpenID] W3C TAG recommends against XRI

What's broken is W3C's "culture and vision" that everything in the world
should be identified with http: URIs. The idea to use URIs as identifiers
that do more than just point to network resources (examples: XML Schema, RDF
Resources, OpenID) is stupid in itself.

For normal (non-tech) people it's hard to understand why a string that
identifies me or an organization or a book has to start with "http://" or
"urn:", or why it has to include ".com".

Besides, URNs aren't very useful because you can't do anything with them.

XRI's main idea is to keep the identifier separate from the protocol used to
discover something about that identifier. URIs don't do that.
