Abhi,

These features are the result of deliberate design decisions by  
Yahoo!  You can read more about the feature appending fragments to  
identifiers along with some rationale in section 11.5.1 of the 2.0  
specs.  The base UUID is just intended to provide non-mappability  
back to Yahoo! ID's by default.
