[OpenID] Affliating OpenID sign ups

There's a few providers doing this (myVidoop included).
It's very helpful in terms of being able to send users somewhere when
the question arises of "This sounds great, but how do I get one?".
It's a matter of usability at the moment.
But I don't think its something that should be added to the spec at
all. This kind of service is trivial to build off of the spec, and
should remain separate. OpenID itself should encourage neutrality.
Once we have adoption, affiliate programs will morph from
"promotional" programs to "added-value" programs where I can get
extra utility, features or even revenue (its all good!) with users
from a certain Provider (sorta like credit cards). The best
"benefits" will be mimicked across Providers, eventually become
standard, and then the Providers can start competing with NEW
features all over again, then repeat. Yay! The users win!
Anyways, I don't think this is something the spec needs to encourage/
regulate. The community should be playing watch-dog just to make sure
that nothing out there turns evil, though.
