I think this was more a polite suggestion that you consider being more 
concise in your writing.

As someone else who shares the tendency to get a bit verbose at times, I 
actually find it useful when someone reminds me that other people's time 
is valuable.

For every one Dick that advises you to write more concisely, there are a 
dozen folks who just quietly pass over your message and don't say 
anything...
