Lest we get too lost in analogy, let's turn that into a sentence about 
OpenID:

You supply a URL that supports OpenID discovery, and the relying party 
sends an OpenID Authentication request to the discovered provider. The 
OpenID Authentication request succeeds and you're logged in to the 
relying party. However, the URL you supplied wasn't really an OpenID 
identifier.

As I'm sure you can see, the above is a nonsense because any URL that 
supports OpenID discovery is by definition an OpenID identifier.

Can you adjust my above scenario so that it demonstrates the point 
you're trying to make? (I don't think I'm really understanding what 
you're getting at right now.)
