Beware, that on a sales run of 30k books you can expect to earn total 100k, over 2 years. If 3 authors, that means 30k each, for a lot of effort. The publisher will net revenues of about 1.5M on a 40$ book list price. They will make YOU the authors buy all the returns, note (which are a lot in amazon discount world). Also, your royalty will be structured so you get lower royalty on most internet sales - via discount and "foreign" sales channels.

Negotiate, hard! And don't be a mugg. (I don't know the American term for mugg, sorry).
