First Bill Gates (on openid), now Dick!

Good Luck at Microsoft, Dick. Once Bill makes a public commitment, you can be sure it happens (eventually). It will happen under Microsoft engineering rules, tho. Expect openid extensions galore, so they "compete" in features, do more than everyone elsebyworking harder, integrate with stuff you hardly think of as openid apps, etc. This is what the firm is just great at. What they did with the SSL handshake was just nothing of astounding, once they really got going. Hopefully, they will nowapply the same energy to making openid's websso a core platform feature (alongside wsfed & saml2).

One way of viewing this is that the OpenID Community now has another
major proponent at Microsoft.
