[OpenID] What can your OpenID Foundation do for you?

Hi Johannes,

This is my "wish list" in no particular order:) ...

1. Provide a mechanism to discuss a broad range of OpenID related
dialogue (already done here).
2. Provide a mechanism to discover information (and contacts) for other
OpenID related activities (meetups, case studies, interviews).
3. Provide a repository of information for developers (guidelines and
peripheral specifications).
4. Provide a "presence" at conferences and on the web for the purpose of
advocating and promoting OpenID.
5. Become a "host" and provide services and support to working groups (I
have proposed accessibility and HCI as to "need now" groups).
6. Protect OpenID (both in term of legal challenges and in terms of
misuse/abuse).
7. Provide a grant giving mechanism for initiatives by developers and
researchers surrounding OpenID innovation.
8. Create chapters that reach out to languages other than English.
9. Provide a mechanism for education over a broad range of scenarios
(using OpenID within education, corporate, health...)
10. Provide membership sponsoring so that corporates and interested
people can sponsor membership to researchers, students and free software
projects working with OpenID.
11. Address and not avoid challenges. Here are two I see as examples
which I pose as questions, not for answering here, but merely as
examples: a: Should we actively promote AX as a replacement for SREG? b:
How do we address the tendency for consumers to come from FOSS and OP's
from corporates and what effect will this have on OpenID?

Note for the board: Much of my 11 points are a work in progress and for
that I applaud your efforts.

Tom
