Really? Then maybe i'll put more effort into trying that out. This is the kind of information that is very useful for people intending to use the libraries.
I'm not familiar with (but happy to spend time on) Tomcat, JSP and some of the technologies that were mentioned (for my sins i am far more familiar with IIS and .Net), so i was a little concerned i would put in all the time to get it working only to find it doesn't provide me with what i expected (as happened in the PHP case). As a start i'd just like to see something that allows (and has implemented) simple registration against a file system, xml file and/or rdbms (with a well known schema and data classes provided) and authentication using OpenID4Java. I would even change application server to use Apache if setting it up OpenID4Java was well documented (the home page for it looks good anyway!).
Regards,
Steven

If there would be a decent library and implementation for PHP in the same quality and extend like OpenID4Java I'd buy that too. So I guess that a complete client (and server implementation) for PHP would make integration with the most popular 'so called Web 2.0" applications even easier. However whatever was available up to now for PHP doesn't match OpenID4Java...not even close.Steven Livingstone wrote:
This is a very good idea. This week i installed the PHP version on IIS, only to find a README after a decent number of hours (wasn't easy to set up as i have zero PHP knowledge) that said no authentication or anything was available. I can understand why for illustration purposes, but the next logical step is to add this kind of stuff so you can get a full implementation one can start using. I looked at the Java version too only to realize it seems to be similar, so i like your suggestion :) stevenhttp://livz.org

Hadn't any time to install and do some coding, which leads me actually to make a suggestion, which some community member could pick up perhaps:How about providing a complete client and server implementation with all the whistle and bells which could be configured in a config or from DB? I could imagine that once something installable would be available, it actually would be used much more (including sql scripts etc). I could also imagine, to provide some hooks for popular forums and blogs, i.e. redirect authentication to the OpenID4Java client and post the result back...Specially the availability of extensions like Attribute Exchange could improve the (security) status of OpenID further, meaning that actual implementations are using it.
